GEORGIAN TEAM

Follow up Activity

The Erasmus+ project "LAMBIDA" gave the Georgian group opportunity not only to visit Cyprus and enjoy the local culture, nature and food but also to learn via non-formal educational methodology. Digital youth work combined with social inclusion is a highly interesting and much-needed topic for us and the beneficiaries we are working with as we are the youth workers, after obtaining certain competencies we had to share them with our beneficiaries at the local level.

Once we back home we started to plan the follow-up activity that we planned in Pissouri, Cyprus, during the training course. After discussing several options, we came up with implementing the activity "step forward" (modified version) in the Sachkhere Youth Center, which is located in a rural area. Right after this, we dealt with the date and selected the 9th of April as the closest date to the training course. We had one online preparatory meeting, during which we planned the follow-up activity and divided the roles and tasks.

Thus, all four of us, who took part in the training course drove for two hours from the capital through the beautiful Georgian nature and finally, we reached the youth centre that was full of young people waiting for us. First, we started the event with the get-to-know-each-other, we introduced ourselves and talked a bit about the project itself. Next was an energizer, which is necessary after speaking activity to wake up and be concentrated. As we had already divided the roles among us, we followed the plan according to it. Tatia started with the introduction of the team, Anna did the energizer, Slava introduced the activity and gave the instructions and Tamar ran debriefing alongside other teammates.

The activity itself was emotional and had an interesting outcome, many participants realized that they are in a similar role which got some of them wanted to cry but in the end, we all came to the idea that life is full of surprises and even those who are at the end of the line have an opportunity to move forward and there are many opportunities for it.

We spent more than 3 hours in the centre and up to 30 participants took part in the event. After the core activity, we played other games and energizers and discussed the challenges for the inclusion of various fewer-opportunity groups. We also spoke a lot about the Erasmus+ program and the opportunities that it gave to young people in Europe and beyond.

On the way back we discussed and reflected on the day, follow-ups are a great way to improve your competencies, thus being a multiplier is not only a responsibility but also a way of learning.

Thanks to the project Georgian team are now more empowered and can better cope with the issues coming from the digital field and inclusion. We are looking forward to taking part in the next activity of the project where we will be hosting our friends from this training course.

PARTICIPANTS' IMPRESSIONS FROM THE PROJECT:

Slava: The training course allowed me to learn how to use digital skills to include young people from fewer opportunities in the youth work I am doing. I also got new friends and professional contact with whom I plan to continue to cooperate in the future. I liked the local culture including cuisine, hospitality and of course the beautiful nature of incredible Cyprus. The training program was designed in a way that we had fruitful sessions where we devoted hard work time and balanced free time to enjoy and discover local places or just have our private time

Tamar: This training course was very interesting and important for me. I acquired new skills and friends. I learned more about different cultures and countries. Especially Cyprus made a great impression. The local food, people and culture are amazing. The project was going on intensively, we had interesting sessions, discussions and funny energizers. I am waiting with great hopes for the second part of the project in Georgia.

Ana: The whole project was an interesting experience for me. During that time I got some new information about social inclusion and youth working in general. Activities were so useful for me and I think I can use this knowledge in the future. Also, the most amazing part of the project was the people. I got new relationships and connections, got new friends, and improved my communication skills one more time. So what can I say more, I am looking forward to seeing you again in Georgia.

Tatia: This training course was really significant part of my life experience. First of all, thank you to the host organization because they have such good skills. For example, they can strike a balance which is very essential to have a workshop with the youth generation. At the same time, I got new relationships which is one of the important parts of this training course. Thanks a lot and we will see each other in Georgia!
